Workshops in Japan
Charlie Badenhop’s Saturday afternoon classes are held in Nogata, Tokyo (On the Seibu Shinjuku Line)
Most of the time classes run from 2PM-6PM. Please check to be certain.
About Charlie’s classes
Charlie’s classes are a melding of NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) Aikido principles, Noguchi Sei Tai, and Ericksonian Hypnosis.
Each class has a specific focus and at the same time the Saturday classes tend to be fairly improvisational. What usually happens is that a significant portion of each class revolves around Charlie working with one or two students who have a clear goal they want to achieve. The remaining time involves people working in small groups applying the same principles they have just seen Charlie use. About fifty percent of the usual audience are coaches and therapists, twenty five percent are business professionals, and the remaining twenty five percent are people who want to expand their knowledge of NLP and hypnosis. Everyone is welcome, and no previous experience or study is necessary.
If you’d like to lose some weight, reduce your level of stress, become more alive in your everyday life, or simply understand yourself better….
Or if you’d like to become a better coach, therapist, or consultant….
Then you should find these classes to be highly beneficial. The classes are based on the extended courses Charlie leads in the US and Europe. The material presented and the experience offered, should benefit you both personally and professionally.
To apply, or to find out when the next class is, please contact Charlie at charlie@seishindo.org
or you can phone him at 81 (0)50 5534 8510
The cost for each class is Yen 7,000.
Themes of Past Classes
Presence- The power of the unspoken word
Whether you’re a business manager, coach, or teacher, you have the need to gain rapport with and influence the people you’re hoping to lead.
In this workshop you will:
1. Learn to slow down your thought process, so the essence of who you are and what you want to communicate is more readily received.
2. Learn “the posture of presence” and the power of the unspoken word.
3. Learn how to generate a sense of safety and collaboration with others.
4. Learn how to slow down, and thus clear away the clutter of too many thoughts and words.
Is this workshop for you?
It is, IF….
* You are a coach who wants new techniques and concepts to use in your work.
* You are a business manager or teacher who wants to invite others to fully engage themselves.
* You want to generate a clearer, more inviting presence.
* You want to make a deeper connection with yourself, your work, and those you lead.
Self Hypnosis and State Control
Starting from one of our last classes, I introduced the use of a sound-light machine as an aid to entering into a generative trance state. I will continue to use and demonstrate this machine in our upcoming classes, as I find that it makes it a lot easier for people to alter their state.
Learning how to enter into a generative trance state through the use of self hypnosis, can be an excellent way to experience self-renewal and healing. If you would like to lose some weight, reduce your level of stress, sleep better, or simply become more alive in your everyday life, then you should find these classes to be highly beneficial.
The class will focus on learning how to enter into a dynamically aware and relaxed state, in order to renew your sense of health and well being, and also as a means for helping yourself to heal emotionally and physically. These classes are based on the extended courses Charlie is leading in the US and Europe. The material presented and the experience offered, should benefit you both personally and professionally.
The Power of the Spoken Word
The words you speak set the expectations and mood of yourself and all those you interact with.
The words you speak also play an important role in determining how you use your body, and perceive the world around you.
In short, the power of your spoken words is integral in determining your emotional, spiritual, and physical well-being.
Join our supportive learning community and:
- Understand how the words you speak determine your belief system and the path your life takes.
- Experience how the words you speak can either nourish your body, or detract from your overall health and vitality.
- Discover how your verbal model of the world, has a profound effect on the relationships you engage in.
- Awaken to the profound changes you can bring about by cultivating a personal description of reality that resonates with your heartfelt goals and desires.
As an individual wanting more from your life, or a trained professional wanting to add to your current professional skills, you can benefit from the groundbreaking method of personal transformation presented in this workshop.
Hypnosis and Self-Hypnosis
If you would like to gain a better understanding of why you continue habits that are not in your best self interest, attain a relaxed control over your actions and emotions, and help reduce residual stress, then you will find this class of definite value.
In Seishindo we practice a method of hypnosis and self-hypnosis that was initially set forth by the late Dr. Milton Erickson.
Our methods are simple, non-invasive, and have very little in common with what you see during stage hypnosis. No tricks, no pendulums, just a naturalist method for relaxing and coming in contact with one’s unconscious mind.
Peace at the Center of the Storm
In this Seishindo workshop, we will explore the effects that trauma has on ourselves, our loved ones, and those we are in community with.
- A person’s trauma can be seemingly “only” physical as in the case of a car accident.
- A person’s trauma can be clearly physical AND emotional, as in the case of a sexual assault.
- A person’s trauma can be seemingly “only” emotional as when a loved one dies suddenly, or as a result of the aftermath of 9/11.
- A person’s trauma can appear to be mainly spiritual as when we discover that those we have trusted have not been faithful to their word.
In all instances, traumatic events tend to have a major impact on our overall health and well-being and alter our ability to be in relationship with others. The effects of trauma have a price that many of us are unwittingly paying in the course of our everyday life. Long term stress, daily attacks of anxiety, an unrelenting lack of confidence, and an inability to be in fulfilling relationships with others, are some of the ways we can know that we are struggling to adjust to the after shocks of trauma.
From the positive perspective of Seishindo, we will explore how we can better understand and heal the effects of trauma. We will gain an experiential understanding of the importance of the emotional connections we share or withhold with all those we are in regular contact with spouse, children, co-workers, clients.
Come and learn how to engage in processes that can lead you to:
- Be more fully alive and positively transform the manner in which you approach the living of your life.
- Better assist yourself, your loved ones, your clients, in coming to terms with life’s many challenges.
As always we will also use the Seishindo concepts “somatic intelligence” as a way of approaching the day’s work.
The Intersection of Buddhism, Spirituality, and Hypnosis
More and more in Seishindo, we are drawn to explore some of the similarities that are present in Buddhism, Spiritual Practices, and Ericksonian Hypnosis.
We find that all three areas of interest delve into the following fundamental concepts:
• Duality—”The dark and the light exist as one whole.”
• Paradox—”Your bad habits are also good for you.”
• Double Binds—”The more you strive to be happy, the more you will tend to experience sadness.”
• Chanting—Whether it be the chanting of life demeaning internal dialogue when we have low self esteem, or the chanting that is an integral part of a Buddhist ceremony. Sound, and the spoken word tend to have great power over us over time.
In this class we will explore and experiment with the dualities present in our individual personalities, paradoxical statements of truth, therapeutic and non-therapeutic double binds, and improvisational chanting. Come and learn how to engage in processes that can lead you to:
• Be more fully alive and positively transform the manner in which you approach the living of your life.
• Better assist your clients in coming to terms with life’s many challenges.
As always we will also use the Seishindo concepts “somatic intelligence” as a way of approaching the day’s work.
The Graceful Facilitation of Challenging Conversations
Every human relationship, be it business or personal winds up necessitating challenging conversations. Telling a child about a dying pet, letting an employee know that you are not happy with their performance, wanting to improve your relationship with your mate. All of these conversations can be challenging and all of these conversations can also be hugely rewarding.
In this class we will explore how to gracefully facilitate the challenging conversations that are crucial to your well-being, your relationships and your career. Come and learn a process that can lead you and your counterparts to be more empathetic, compassionate, and solution oriented. Learn how to better engage in the conversations you need to be having. The conversations that have the potential to positively transform your relationships and thus your life.
This class focuses somewhat more on NLP skills than most of our classes. You will learn a highly successful model that has been crafted by my colleague Cindy Franklin. As always we will also use “somatic intelligence” as a way of approaching the day’s work.
Dropping into your center
One of the basic concepts of Seishindo is that we experience difficulty when we live mainly in our “head” rather than being connected to our physical and emotional center and our surroundings.
In this class wee will explore how to “drop down and expand” in order to access the deep wisdom that emanates from the intelligence of our body. When we are balanced, both physically and emotionally, we can act in the world with greater clarity, compassion, and creativity.
In this class we will explore and experiment with the dualities present in our individual personalities, and the paradoxical realities of our rational mind and our emotional mind. Come and learn how to engage in processes that can lead you to:
- Be more fully alive and positively transform the manner in which you approach the living of your life.
- Better assist your clients in coming to terms with life’s many challenges.
As always we will use the Seishindo concept of “somatic intelligence” as a way of approaching the day’s work.
