This Practice assumes you have a situation or relationship
that you would like to be able to better understand, or change.
(If you have not yet done the "I
am" Practice better to complete that Practice first.)
Read through these instructions once or twice before actually
proceeding.
1. As a "Breath talker"
develop a clear breathing rhythm, in through the nose, and
out through the mouth.
Take a minute or two to develop a rhythm that is pleasing
to you. Find a crisp, yet relaxed, breathing rhythm for yourself,
in through the nose and out through the mouth. Letting your
mouth open in a relaxed manner.
2. Once you are into a rhythm,
begin to speak in short phrases in a free form manner, as
you exhale.
"My name is Charlie...... I live in Japan...... I am
married and have a daughter...
Carry on like this for at least one full minute. Two or more
minutes is better!
3. Create an "I am"
statement.
Think about something that you would like to better understand,
or change.
For instance: "I want to lose weight." Once you
have a clear intention, make believe that you have already
achieved your intention, and make a brief statement addressing
your accomplishment. For instance, in regard to losing weight
you might say, "I am healthy, slim, and energetic."
It is important to make a statement that gives you the mental
image and emotional feeling of how you look and feel having
already accomplished your goal, rather than describing how
you do NOT want to be. An incorrectly formulated "I
am" statement would be "I am no longer overweight
and I feel good about myself." Instead, state how you
ARE having already achieved the results you desire.
4. Now that you have created
your "I am" statement, get back into your breathing
rhythm and speak your "I am" statement in a clear
concise manner.
5. Stay in your breath-talking
rhythm and begin to describe how you feel, and experience
life, when you live in your "I am" frame of mind.
Talk about how you would feel and perceive yourself and the
world, having already accomplished what you are wanting to
accomplish. How you would feel if you were already successful.
Once you can imagine "already being successful",
you are much more likely to accomplish what you desire!
If and whenever you get out of synch with your breath-talking,
stop your speaking as you CONTINUE to breathe, and then start
back again with the last statement that you were out of synch
with. Staying in synch is crucial here.
At times, depending on your intuition, you might actually
want to stop and start again at the beginning of your breath-talking
dialogue.
