Healing with Breath, Presence, and Touch
A two-day workshop for massage therapists, bodyworkers, intuitive healers, and potential students of the healing arts

with Charlie Badenhop, Originator of Seishindo

Dates: October 27, 28 2007 - Saturday, Sunday
Time: 9:30-5:30 daily
Where: Palo Alto, CA

The ability to "touch" someone in such a way that they feel more connected to life and wellness is a sacred act that has been practiced since the beginning of time. Yet, it's challenging to understand how to connect deeply without taxing yourself mentally, physically and emotionally. Whether you are a seasoned professional or a beginner, please join us and further evolve the healing power that resides within you. Enliven your field of energy, and initiate the healing rhythms that lead to physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

In this workshop you will:
1. Explore subtle yet simple ways to enter into a healing relationship with others.
2. Discover how to use your whole self to sensitively contact the human need for touch and intimacy.
3. Learn how to enliven your field of energy, and initiate healing rhythms in yourself and others.
4. Experience how to touch someone's heart and wholeness.

Is this workshop for you?
It is, if some of these statements sound familiar:

  • I started out loving massage, but after 5 years I'm bored. I find myself wondering if it's time to do something else. I'm hoping the joy I once felt for this work will return.
  • I want a deeper connection and more participatory relationship with my clients than physical techniques alone provide
  • I've experienced the limitations of using physical techniques. I want to know if the limitations I experience are due to my own inability, or whether I simply need to somehow be doing something differently.
  • I want to learn how to be myself while working, with less need to use my "professional aura" to control what goes on.
  • I feel I'm ready to transition into a new phase of my career, and I want to explore new perspectives.
  • I find my work very enlivening and also very draining. Holding space for my clients for extended periods of time is both wonderful and challenging. I want to explore my limits while at the same time not pushing myself to do more. I also want to develop a plan for self-care.
  • I want to make my work more effective, more fun, and less like "work."

Our approach will work effectively for you if you share the following values and beliefs:

  • Each person's life is supported by an "intelligence" (Spirit) that is the generative force manifesting the universe we live in. At every given moment you can tap into this intelligence to support you in living the life your true heart desires.
  • Your body holds the answer to many puzzles your cognitive mind alone cannot express or solve.
  • Your thoughts, actions, and emotions are all part of "one loop" of intelligence. It really isn't possible to separate out the physical, emotional, and rational components of "self".
  • The body is intelligent, expressive and wise, and communicates in a highly sophisticated and systematic manner.
  • Your "body language" leads to the generation of your verbal language. Change the language of your body and you will change the way you think and feel.

The ability to "touch" someone in such a way that they feel more connected to life and wellness is a sacred act that has been practiced since the beginning of time. Please join us and tap into the healing power that resides within you.

Why Seishindo is effective in helping massage therapists and bodyworkers evolve their practice
In Seishindo we focus on the entire relationship we have with a client. Non-verbal as well as verbal. When the client feels safe and understands you experience them as being resourceful and capable of great change, they are much better able to stay in the flow of healing.

You'll discover that your beliefs, and the way you use your whole self, have a major impact on your ability to help others connect to their health and vital energy. Understanding the subtle yet powerful non-verbal communication of breath, presence, and touch is crucial to being able to help others tap into their own healing power. The key is beginning from a place of "pure heart, simple mind" and working intuitively rather than technically.

Step One: Connect to, and believe in yourself.
Step Two: Connect to and believe in the healing power of Spirit.
Step Three: Connect to and believe in the health and wholeness of your client.
Step Four: Physically balance your client.
Step Five: Resonate "the four rhythms of health and wholeness".

"I‘ve had a private practice as a mind-body coach for a lot of years and have studied with a lot of masters. I was not sure I needed what Charlie offered. So I called and we had a honest heart felt conversation comparing notes, learnings, and mentors. At the end of our conversation he made me a great offer. He said if I came to his workshop and if after the first full day I felt like I did not learn anything useful to take into my private practice or personal growth, then he would give me a full cash refund for the entire weekend. After day one, my simple word was all he would need. No hidden agenda. His offer was generous and full of integrity. Very few individuals are strong enough and skilled enough to offer this, particularly when he really did not need to.

Watching and feeling Charlie's mastery at that short two day course in San Francisco in February of this year inspired me. First because his magic is healthy and inviting. Secondly he has the ability to demonstrate alchemy and I wanted to apprentice with him. Specifically I was impressed with his ability to stay in his center while working and inviting others to come home to their body through breath and awareness exercises. He did some elegant simple magic and I related to something I sometimes know I do and don't always do. He was present and "not knowing" and allowing the moment to unfold while lovingly responding to the participants needs with perfect timing and appropriate humor.

After the Seishindo Telecourse for Coaches, I feel humbled and amazed. I have learned to truly trust less is more. I mean, less thinking and learning gives me more openness and space to move from. More thinking and learning can be a trap for me. I forget how to get back into the not knowing (less mind) space. I realized I have been working too hard and have already began not working so hard to let go and trust my mind and body can both be of service to me.
After the second teleclass I have shifted and begun to integrate some of the Seishindo exercises into my body and life. The difference is when I know from my body I can relax and depend on my body to know what to do to take care of my needing to know. For myself and my perceptions of my clients. I do not need to know for anybody. I know when I know and that is enough.

I am feeling encouraged as I am beginning to do more of what I am learning. I grok how remarkably important this somatic intelligence is. I always get what I truly desire. And now I am desiring to live as much as I can from these skillful places Charlie has been teaching us.

I want to thank Charlie so much for his work and his kind heart. I feel changed in a big-big way. What a burden off my shoulders.
Take this class if you want to become more authentic and aware in your life. Having a heartfelt experience of your body's somatic language invites introspection, honesty and courage. This is required for the actual healing and self love everybody wants. The reward is maturity with a renewed vision to carry forth into the world."

"I am drawn to learning techniques and applications which can develop me as a healer / facilitator. In developing my tool kit I am blessed with the ability to synthesize many different modalities (mind body and soul therapies) and then intuitively allow the healing to happen in whatever way it is needed. My understanding so far is that the Seishindo system is a powerful complement and adjunct to the hypnosis, CranioSacral and Somatic Emotional Release work that I currently practice.

I want to be completely trusting in what I sense when helping a client - in other words I hope to gain more confidence and acceptance of what I witness in a session rather than what I hear and thus zero in on what is really happening for the client rather than what they are saying.

The lessons I have received from Charlie allow me great flexibility and scope within the parameters of the work I already do. I have noticed a difference in my hypnotherapy work - I am slower, more present and deliberate when working with my client.
As a result of the telecourse, I feel much calmer, I would even describe myself as having accessed my inner animal spirit self... when this happens my body takes on a real fluid feel when I move... my whole body is connected and I am much more aware and present. This allows me to hold space in a session more than before.

I feel more in touch with myself and those around me -- I don't feel quite so separate from clients (friends, family, etc). I am different but I am also a part of it all!!

I feel that Charlie not only fulfilled but surpassed what was promised in the course write-up. Not just in the knowledge learned aspect, but experientially too.

This workshop provided a place where I could view and inspect my own way of operating in my life as well as how I am as a therapist. The information given, together with the exercises which are done one on one, allow a deeper understanding of myself as well as allowing me to witness the process in others.

Charlie has a gift of softly guiding me simply by following his example - this work deeply resonates with my own definition of facilitating healing and thus the work I do."

"I first met Charlie at a workshop facilitated by Stephen Gilligan and I was immediately interested in Charlie's concept of "somatic intelligence."
In attending one of Charlie's workshops at a later date, what I recall most is the warmth of his compassionate presence, and his loving care for all of the students. He offered me a new way to understand and appreciate myself.
Since then i have been to every workshop Charlie has given in Europe. I have learned many things, and what still impresses me most is the feeling that I get of being connected with myself, the other workshop participants, the world, and the universe. A feeling that is so difficult to put into words.
I always take home the knowledge that I am a wonderful, unique person, who is "just right" the way I am." Kirsten Hinrichsen, Heilpraktikerin, Munich

"I had a wonderful and transformative time working with Charlie and Marleen, integrating aspects of Seishindo with NLP. I believe our work together addressed two important factors in health and well-being: The role the body plays in determining our physical-emotional state (Seishindo) and the role the thinking mind plays in determining our psychological-emotional state (NLP). Melding these two forms allowed us to focus on health from a new paradigm. The body and the thinking mind are involved in an intimate relationship, and this relationship must be honored and attended to if we are to be truly healthy and whole. The Seishindo work is so valuable, and it has been years since I experienced such profound change made directly through the body in a field of support and sponsorship. Keep up the good work! You have a lot to offer the world."
Judith Delozier, co-founder of NLP and co-developer of New Code NLP.

Patrick Henckes, general manager Flection Belgium NV

"Through his intense way of working and 'being', Charlie guided me to a deeper contact within myself. For the first time I was able to connect to certain bodily parts of myself and this gave me a strong reference point to many deep and unknown places within myself. It's inspiring to continue searching and un-covering. I am thankful for this opportunity."
Jerko Bozikovic, Trainer & Coach, Antwerpen, Belgium

"I have attended a Seishindo workshop last October in Antwerp and not only did I totally enjoy myself, meet new people and make new friends, but I really learnt a huge amount of new 'stuff' about me and my body. As a professional breathwork facilitator I am still using techniques and exploring ideas that were demonstrated in such a wonderful way. It is rare that I have the opportunity to take part in a workshop of such high calibre. Charlie's method of teaching is very experiential, engaging and enthusiastic. It is a true testament to the heart and soul that he brings to his work and his very fortunate clients. If you are up for an active weekend where you can rally learn how to start transforming your life I recommend that you consider booking yourself into this workshop."
Geoffrey Smith, BreathWork Facilitator, La Hulpe, Belgium

"The workshop gave me insight into how I function and how I can improve the quality of my life by going to my centre. I learned how important breathing is and how to find my strength and balance again.

Charlie Badenhop is an inspiring and very competent person. It is six weeks since I attended his workshop. I do some Seishindo exercises regularly, and I feel more powerful since then. I still experience the workshop every day!"
Rob Driessen, HR Manager, Antwerpen, Belgium

"A good self-understanding is very important today during the tremendous changes currently ongoing in our working and social life. Attending the Seishindo workshop gave me a unique opportunity to learn mind-body connections in ways that were entertaining, energising and unforgettable. The workshop helped me to go through important changes with a larger degree of confidence and with an increased feeling of joy."
Ulf Sundberg, Business Executive

"...For the first time in my life I feel love for myself. My somatic intelligence has done its work, and this is a very interesting process! Something has really changed. And after all of this, I find myself feeling healthy, without pills or any special supplements, for the first time in many years. ...
Corry Brons, Belgium

"...I've had migraines and fibromyalgia for years. I took pills, talked to doctors, and tried lots of different remedies, but the pain just got worse. As a last resort I took the Seishindo 'Finding Inner Peace' workshop on October 30, 2006, and I am feeling blessed for having done so! It's been several weeks now and I continue to feel better each day. No more pain pills because I don't hurt as much and believe it or not, my vision has also improved!..." Shelley Kaufman-Young, Virginia, USA

"...My energy is much more even and I'm not losing focus or having to push through fatigue. What a wonderful relief to not have to use so much energy to manage my pain. I feel like a person released from jail, and ready to explore a new life!..."
June Holley, Ohio, USA

"Charlie Badenhop is a gifted somatic healer with unique skills and intuitive capacities. His deep understanding of mindbody relatedness comes from extensive experience in many areas - e.g., aikido, hypnosis, NLP, and Japanese healing arts - and is especially helpful to all those interested in promoting wellness in self and others."
Stephen Gilligan,
Ph.D., the founder of Self-Relations Therapy and author of "The Courage to Love"

"The Seishindo workshop "Simple Mind Pure Heart" was the most profound and extraordinary workshop that I have ever attended. Profound because of the miraculous changes that have occurred in me and extraordinary because of the unique methods used to generate those changes."
Angela Scherma, Sales and Service Manager; Australia

Charlie, I didn't know what to think at first. I've seen you do some wonderful work in person, and I was hard put to understand how you could do anything vaguely similar over the phone. Now, after having had a few phone coaching sessions with you I am a believer. It is fascinating for me to begin to better understand how you slow things down and soothe people, whether in person, on the phone, or the middle of cyber space. I am looking forward to taking your teleclasses on somatic coaching. I really want to learn how to do what you do, so I can reach a larger coaching audience.
